Russia

Russia is an expansive land, stretching from the borders of Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Turkey in the west, and passing Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and China to reach the Pacific Ocean.

.A mostly flat landscape is punctuated only by the Urals, which rise no higher, then 1900 meters, and the more substantial ranges of the Far East. The landscape shifts from the northern forests to the black earth of Asia’s grain basket. In Moscow snow begins falling by the end of November and remains until early April.

Family Creations, Inc (FCI) has a long standing collaboration with an agency accredited by the Russian government to complete adoptions in Russia. Through this collaboration, we at Family Creations will provide and/or coordinate all of the services on the U.S. side which are necessary for the successful completion of your adoption. The accredited agency will approve each family and provide the services overseas. During your time overseas FCI will be available to you to help make your adoption process run as smooth as possible.

About the children available for adoption: Children who are available for international adoption are those who are determined to be “orphans” by virtue of any of the following: voluntary relinquishment of parental rights, involuntary termination of parental rights, or death of parents. In addition to these factors, the child must be placed on the national Russian databank for children without parents for at least eight months, and must not have been adopted by Russia citizens.

The children ages range from 9 months to15 years, both boys and girls are available for adoption but there are more boys then girls. Many children are healthy, some have minor correctable health issues and some have special needs. All of the children are routinely tested for HIV and Hepatitis, and although the orphanages do their best to care for the children, because they live in an institution there will be some developmental delays. Any known health issues will be presented to you in the child’s medical report. We recommend that prospective adoptive parents consult an international adoption medical specialist to assist them in evaluating an internationally adopted child’s medical conditions.

Eligibility : Married couples and single women can adopt. Singles must be at least 25 years old, and in general (with some exceptions), the parent must be no more than 45 years older than the child adopted.

Travel : The length of your stay will depend upon the specific region in which your child is located. Most regions are two-trip regions, in which only one parent is required to travel the first time to meet the child, with the second trip requiring both parents travel and appear in court to finalize the adoption.

Time Frame : Generally, most adoptions can be completed in 9-13 months. However, to some extent this depends on how quickly you provide necessary paperwork, which region the child is in and how fast Immigration issues approval for your adoption.

Total Adoption Expense: The estimated fees are $24,000.00 excluding travel and out of pocket expenses.
